Review:
"Jessica Alba Wants To Be An Action Star". That should have been the title of the woefully incompetent action thriller "Trigger Warning". The current title sounds more like a spoof. An even better title would have been "Boredom Trigger", because despite being only 100 minutes long (before credits), it felt twice as long. Oh yes, this is definitely a Netflix movie.
How can a movie have more than one writer and still be this bad. Surely there was more than one draft. John Brancato ("Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines"), Josh Olson ("A History of Violence") and Halley Wegryn Gross ("The Last of Us Part II") authored this roller coaster of utter dullness that rips off "Rambo" and "Road House" among many others, but leaves out all the fun stuff. The plot is needlessly convoluted, cliched and driven by some of the blandest characters I've ever had the misfortune of watching on both big and small screens.
Jessica Alba is at least moderately watchable. She clearly put in the work, but the fight scenes are a letdown. They're poorly shot, edited and choreographed, wasting Alba's athleticism and killing any chance this movie had of being entertaining. Production values are also quite low, with a lot of CGI explosions that look awful, bland set design and poorly lit cinematography.
Indonesian filmmaker Mouly Surya's english-language debut is a complete failure, a typical direct-to-streaming dud that has no redeeming qualities.
